Our approach
KAHUNA aims to make considered decisions about clothing, packaging and the way products move through our business.
We recognise that producing and delivering clothing has an environmental impact. We want to explain our approach clearly and avoid claims we cannot support with evidence.
Durability and care
Choosing clothing suited to its intended use and caring for it correctly can help extend its useful life.
Our Product Care page provides general guidance. Always follow the care label and any instructions supplied with the individual garment.
If you experience a problem with an item, contact us so we can assess it and explain any available repair, replacement or other remedy.
Materials and product information
Check individual product descriptions for material composition and relevant product details.
We will describe specific environmental attributes, such as recycled content or certification, only where we have suitable evidence. An attribute stated for one product should not be assumed to apply to the entire KAHUNA range.
Packaging and suppliers
As our range develops, we aim to review packaging and supplier choices, including opportunities to reduce unnecessary material and waste.
We will distinguish between changes already made and improvements we are still exploring.
Reusing and disposing of packaging
Where practical, reuse packaging that remains suitable for another purpose.
Check the material markings and your local collection guidance before recycling. Recycling availability varies by location and material.
Keeping you informed
This page will be updated as specific KAHUNA initiatives and supporting evidence become available.
We will explain the scope of any environmental claim so you can understand which product, material, packaging component or activity it relates to.
Responsible sourcing and labour standards
KAHUNA manufactures and sources products internationally. Our opposition to exploitation applies in every country where our products are made.
We oppose child labour, forced labour, human trafficking and other forms of exploitation. We expect manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors involved in producing KAHUNA goods to respect workers' rights and comply with applicable employment laws.
Our expectations are informed by the International Labour Organization's standards on minimum working age and the elimination of the worst forms of child labour.
Young workers must meet applicable minimum-age requirements. Work must not interfere with compulsory education, and workers under 18 must not undertake hazardous work.
We expect suppliers to be transparent about production locations and any subcontracting used for KAHUNA orders.
Where concerns are identified, our approach is to investigate and seek appropriate corrective action that protects affected workers and children. This may include suspending orders or ending a supplier relationship where concerns cannot be adequately resolved.
Chemical safety and REACH
REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Its requirements can apply to substances used in clothing, fabrics, dyes, prints, coatings, trims and other product components.
KAHUNA requires products supplied to meet the chemical restrictions and other applicable obligations for the markets in which they are sold.
This includes UK REACH requirements for Great Britain and EU REACH requirements for Northern Ireland and EU markets, where applicable.
Our supplier expectations include providing relevant material information, declarations and appropriate supporting evidence so that applicable requirements can be assessed.
We will only make product-specific testing or certification claims where we hold suitable evidence. A general supplier statement is not presented as proof that every product has been independently tested.
Raising a concern
If you have concerns about labour conditions, sourcing or chemical safety relating to a KAHUNA product, contact sales@kahuna.ie. Include the product name, order number or other relevant details where available.
We will review the information and investigate with the relevant supplier where appropriate.
